mo' merch, mo' problemz

Hi! I like my friends, but you guys don't buy enough material stuff. I know your everlasting attention and adoration is great, but a Chris Crocker t-shirt would seal the deal.

TAKEOVAH, git yer Big Takeover here!!!!

The newest issue of the Big Takeover (issue #62, to be precise) is out now, and I think it is well-worth a gander.

Michael Stipe is looking like an angry dandy on the front, and on the inside, I've written a number of reviews.

I think my favorite CDs that I got to write about were definitely Celebration, Sunset Rubdown, Evangelicals, and the Tankfarm mixes.

Go on now, support your indie publishers!

PROM WEEKEND 2008!!!!

Veni, vedi, vici NJ shore!

We came, we saw, we - cringed!!!??!

Spending prom weekend at Seaside Heights (er- SHEERSIDE HEIGHTS) was the experience of a lifetime. It was like going to the zoo, a zoo filled with hetero assholes with tribal tattoos, drunken teen girls that weigh under 100 lbs a piece, overweight white trash with the worst sunburns you've ever seen, and nightclubs with names like "BAM BOO" and "Hemingway's" or "Yakety Yak."

I've never been so glad to have taken a trip in my life :)

The L Mag's New Music Festival

If you have $8 to spare and are looking for something divine to do on Thursday night this week! Tickets are available HERE..... I'll be there drinking whiskey and trying to decide if these bands are actually good, which, I guess they are - but that annoying chick from New York Noise really pisses me off, and so does her band's name. The Pains of Being Pure at Heart. I mean, come on - really?!?!

Part of the Solution

Why, hello there!

Over the weekend a number of friends and myself celebrated the life of Ben Brown, who we lost over the summer of 2006 in a tragic accident. It was a touching weekend full of laughs and love, and one of the collective goals has been to raise money in Ben's name for Part of the Solution (POTS), a charity in the Bronx that helps to serve those in the community who need it most.

In a city where there seems to be a neverending supply of causes or charities, this is certainly a grassroots sort of organization that is working within the community from the ground-up. Unlike larger, corporate charities, the money that we are raising in Ben's name will make a direct and visible difference to the people involved. If anyone reading this has been thinking about giving some cash this summer to help a cause, I think this is a great place to look and to begin.

Ben was a beautiful person, and we all miss him SO sooooo much. He would be really proud of what's been done so far! The key to dealing with hardships is often to reach out to those who have it even harder, which is what this is all about. Take a minute and learn a bit more about POTS - and think about what you might be able to do to help people everywhere or anywhere who might be down on their luck. Be part of the solution :) and follow what's right.
